Concerns have been raised following a fire that largely destroyed the Tapobhumi Temple and break-ins in Waiwai, Ba.
Opposition MP, Viam Pillay, who visited the site, stresses that the temple had previously experienced two break-ins; one last year and another in January, before this latest incident.
Pillay says the extent of the damage highlights the impact on families who worship at the temple and the wider community.
He has acknowledged that Police investigations are ongoing and is supporting a full and careful process to determine the cause and timing of the fire.
Pillay says it is important that the facts are established, so accountability can follow, stressing that every community deserves safety and every place of worship deserves respect.
He says incidents like this can leave people feeling hurt and uncertain, but he is urging communities to focus on unity, harmony and forgiveness.
Pillay adds that while rebuilding the temple is important, rebuilding trust among community members is just as critical.
He is calling on those in Waiwai and nearby areas to come together, have open discussions and work towards understanding and peace.
Pillay says moving forward requires calm, dignity and a shared commitment to restoring both the temple and relationships within the community.
Questions have been sent to Police.
