Serevi inspires children to work hard, have faith and self-belief

7s rugby legend Waisale Serevi is urging children to work hard, never give up and to believe in themselves.

While speaking during the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants Annual Congress, Serevi says when he was younger, he was told not to play rugby because he was too small, he might get injured or die.

He says he heard the people but he believed in God, and believed in himself.

The legend also says that the world is challenging and unfair so we must never give up.

He says he thanks God for standing here today as it is a testimony that nothing is impossible in the world.

He shared that he struggled academically in school, failed tests, and even considered dropping out, but his father encouraged him to stay disciplined and value education and hard work.

Serevi is urging young people to respect school, do their daily responsibilities, and understand that not working after giving up education leads to hardship.

He adds that despite not being strong academically, he discovered his talent and gave it 500 percent effort to succeed in life.

In a career spanning over 30 years, Serevi is considered as the greatest 7s player and is regarded as the King of 7s.
