Former Fijian Broadcasting Corporation CEO Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Chief Financial Officer Vimlesh Sagar have pleaded not guilty in relation to the tender and procurement of a 3.0L Volkswagen Touareg valued at $207,470.
They appeared before Magistrate Joseph Daurewa this morning.
Sagar’s defence lawyer, Ritesh Singh informed the court that they have not received disclosures from 2025 to show evidence that there was a loss.
Singh says FICAC should be aware that this case is before the court and should have provided the required documents.
FICAC lawyer Josann Pene was reminded to respond to the emails.
The matter has been adjourned to the 23rd of June for a pre-trial conference.
The trial has been scheduled from the 2nd to the 6th of November.
Sayed-Khaiyum faces two charges of abuse of office and general dishonesty causing a loss, while Sagar is charged with one count of general dishonesty causing a loss.
