Finley Lloyd-Gilmour drew first blood for Great Britain to give them an early 5-0 lead before Terio Veilawa struck to equal the scores at 5-5.
Lloyd-Gilmour got his second try just before halftime for them to lead Fiji 10-5.
Filipe Sauturaga got Fiji back into the game, scoring in the 9th minute to put Fiji in the lead 12-10.
Tomasi Vuluma further extended Fiji's lead after scoring a double in the 13th and 15th minute making it 24-10.
Fiji demolished Germany 42-5 in their first pool game and will next play France at 4.13pm tomorrow.
In other games, France beat Germany 35-0, Spain thumped South Africa 31-12, Argentina thrashed Uruguay 40-19, France outplayed Great Britain 22-7, South Africa beat Uruaguay 12-7.
The Men's Cup quarterfinals start at 10.03pm tomorrow.
The Cup semifinals are at 6pm Sunday while the Cup final at 11.14pm.
