The Fiji Airways National Men's 7s side put on a masterclass performance in their first game against Germany, with nippy halfback Terio Veilawa's double getting them through 42-5.
Veilawa opened up the scoring for Fiji in the third and sixth minutes to give Fiji an early 14-0 lead.
Filipe Sauturaga also got his name on the score sheet running in a try just before the break.
Fiji led 21-0 at half-time.
Jeremaia Matana extended Fiji's lead in the second half after a quick ruck, recycling the ball a few times to put him under the sticks.
At this point, the Fiji team is just playing touch with Germany, spreading the ball out wide to stretch the defence before punching through the middle with tall timber Tira Patterson, making it 35-0.
Matana made another break through the middle before handing the ball off to Apete Narobo to get his first try in Hong Kong.
Yaro Chiefs winger, Tomasi Vuluma, showed why he was picked for the squad as he outpaced the defence to get his debut try and make it 42-0.
Germany, who have rarely seen possession throughout the game, spread the ball wide, beating the Fiji defence and finally getting a try.
Fiji will next play Great Britain at 8.21 tonight before facing France at 4.31pm tomorrow in their final pool match.
In other games, Argentina thumped Spain 38-14, South Africa beat Uruguay 12-7, while France beat Great Britain 22-7.
The Men's Cup quarterfinals start at 10.03pm tomorrow.
The Cup semifinals are at 6pm Sunday with the Cup final at 11.14pm.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side plays Japan at 8.44 tonight, they then meet Brazil at 12.01am tomorrow before facing New Zealand at 5.01pm.
