Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says people need to see that leaders put the interests of the Vanua above their own and that leaders never use their position of leadership to enrich themselves.

While speaking to participants at the Traditional Leadership Curriculum in Tailevu, Bainimarama says the people need to believe that the leaders will communicate with them fully so that they are informed about the issues that will affect their lives.

Bainimarama says people need to believe that they will consult them on those important issues and not impose a dictatorial will.

The Prime Minister adds that the people deserve the leader's full commitment to helping them access the incredible opportunities for development made available by the government.

He says it is respect for leadership that drives people to excel.
