While the government has made plans and commitments, all of us in Fiji have to realise that we are in tough times right now and it will be like this for another 2 years.

This has been highlighted by Minister for Infrastructure, Jone Usamate who says the government will do its utmost best to deliver on all of its plans but it can only do as much as the money that it has available.

Usamate says revenue from taxation has to be maintained at a particular level for the government to continue to repair roads and build water pipes and extend electricity lines.

The Minister adds that 40 to 50% of the government's income comes from the tourism sector and it is used to provide the services that we need.

He says activity in the tourism sector is almost nil.

Usamate adds that for this year, his Ministry will continue to focus on providing the roads, water and electricity in terms of infrastructure.
