76-Year-old market vendor defies age with determination

At 76 years old, Titilia Naimanumanu continues to defy expectations, supporting herself as one of the oldest vendors at the Suva Market while inspiring others with her resilience and dedication.

Naimanumanu was among 20 Suva Market vendors who recently completed a three-day training program facilitated by the Ministry of Commerce and Business Development.

The training focused on practical business skills aimed at helping vendors improve their daily operations and income management.

While many people her age are enjoying retirement, Naimanumanu rises early each morning to begin her day at the market.

Naimanumanu sells a variety of fresh produce, including eggplant, lemons, and cucumbers, and consistently serves her regular customers with care.

Reflecting on her years in the market, she recalls that a decade ago, she could earn $100 or more in a single day; however, she says it has become increasingly difficult to reach that amount due to the growing number of vendors.

Naimanumanu believes success comes from consistency and determination, and she encourages young people to stay focused and avoid making excuses in life.
