22-year-old Shivalika Jayshree Dutt fulfilled her father's dream as she graduated with Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics at The University of South Pacific (USP).
Originally from Davuilevu Nakasi Dutt also received three awards explaining it feels like a dream come true and reflects a goal she had set for herself when she first enrolled at USP.
Dutt received a Gold Medal and Prize - for the most outstanding graduate in the School of Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics, Certificate - for the most outstanding graduate in Physics and The Shikha Raturi award - for the Best Female Undergraduate Student from a USP Member in the country in the School of Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Dutt says achieving a gold medal was not only her personal ambition but also a dream shared with her parents, adding that she feels proud to have fulfilled it.
The former Bhawani Dayal Arya College Student says her journey was not easy, highlighting that balancing personal, academic and professional commitments was one of her biggest challenges.

Dutt adds that maintaining consistency in her studies, regardless of the time of day, helped her stay focused and achieve her goals.
Speaking about her time at USP, she says being part of a prestigious university and graduating as a gold medallist are among her most memorable experiences.
She further says achieving a GPA of 4.25 out of 4.5 and working as a teaching assistant, where she conducted tutorials and lab demonstrations, were also significant highlights of her academic journey.
Dutt is encouraging students to set daily goals and remain committed to achieving them, saying consistent effort and hard work are essential for success.
She stresses that family support also plays an important role, adding that encouragement from parents can motivate students to perform better, even during difficult times.
Looking ahead, she says she is currently working as a teaching assistant in physics at USP while pursuing her master’s studies Mathematics.
Dutt also confirms that she has been granted permanent residency in Australia and will be leaving Fiji soon, but plans to stay connected with USP for future research work.
She adds that she comes from a family of five and is the youngest of three siblings, noting that her family’s support has been instrumental in her achievements.
She is also urging students and families to believe that success is possible through dedication and continuous effort.
