More than 445 life-saving heart surgeries and 50,000 echocardiograms have been delivered free of charge as the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital marks four years of service.
Chairman, Sumeet Tappoo says the hospital has become a centre of healing, hope and transformation for thousands of families across Fiji and the Pacific.
He highlighted that more than 75,000 consultations have also been provided free, with patients receiving care regardless of their financial situation.
Tappoo acknowledged the support of the Fiji Government, including former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad, saying their assistance has helped ensure children continue to receive life-saving treatment.
He says while the achievements are significant, the hospital is now moving into its next phase.
Tappoo has announced that the hospital will expand its services to include cardiac treatment for adults through a new catheterisation lab, which will also be provided free of charge.
He describes the expansion as a major step forward for healthcare in Fiji and the wider Pacific, giving more families access to critical heart treatment without financial burden.
The initiative is led by founder Madhusudan Sai, whose global humanitarian mission continues to provide free healthcare, education and nutrition under the “One World One Family” vision.

Speaking during the hospital’s anniversary celebrations, Sai says Fiji has been one of the most supportive countries for the global healthcare mission.
He highlighted that the initiative goes beyond medical treatment, focusing on transforming lives and supporting families.
Sai acknowledged the work of medical teams, volunteers and international partners, saying their dedication has helped deliver life-saving cardiac care to children in Fiji and the Pacific.
He also thanked overseas supporters, including teams from the United States, who contributed to the development of the new catheterisation lab.
Sai says the new facility will further strengthen cardiac services in Fiji, with operations expected to begin soon.
He adds that the hospital’s journey began after recognising the need for better treatment for children with heart conditions in Fiji and the region.
The facility has since grown from a small programme into a fully established hospital through global support and partnerships.
Sai says the mission is guided by the “One World One Family” philosophy, focusing on compassion, service and improving lives.
The expansion is expected to improve access to advanced cardiac treatment for more people across Fiji and the Pacific.
