South Melbourne FC have become the first team to secure a place in the semi-finals of the OFC Pro League after coming from behind to beat South Island United 4-2 in their Leader's Group clash at Eden Park.

South Island United struck first in the 17th minute through Ryan Feutz, however, South Melbourne responded strongly with an equaliser from Arran Cocks before Max Mikkola scored just five minutes later to put South Melbourne ahead.

The side extended their lead in the 34th minute when Josh Rogerson accidentally headed the ball into his own net, with Jordan Swibel then scoring South Melbourne’s fourth goal in first-half stoppage time to give them a dominant 4-1 advantage heading into the break.

In the second half, South Island United managed to pull one back in the 80th minute through Oliver Fay.

Earlier in the day, Auckland FC defeated Extra Bula FC to claim their first win.

South Melbourne will now face Bula FC on Tuesday at 3pm as they look to finish top of the group, while South Island United will play against Auckland FC at 7pm. Both matches will be played at Eden Park.

Meanwhile, South Melbourne FC lead the Leaders Group standings, Auckland FC are second, South Island United are third, while Bula FC are last.

The competition format sees the top three teams from the Leaders Group qualify for the semi-finals, while the fourth-placed side will face the winner of the Challengers Group, where the bottom four teams compete.

The semi-finals are scheduled for 20 May at GO Media Stadium, with the final to be played on 24 May at Eden Park.

The OFC Pro League will also determine who represents Oceania at the annual FIFA Intercontinental Cup and the quadrennial FIFA Club World Cup.
