As Fiji prepares to host the 14th Oceania Swimming Championship in Suva today, several medal winners from the previous Oceania Games are expected to compete, including Thaddeus Kwong, Erik Tokona, and Reuben Taylor in the boys’ division, along with Imelda Smith in the girls’ competition.
The Fiji Swimming Association says day one of the championship will begin with the 50-metres butterfly events for both males and females, followed by the 200-metres freestyle races.
They say other events scheduled for today include the backstroke races, the 1,500-metres freestyle for both men and women, the 4x50-metres freestyle relay, and the competition will conclude with the 4x100-metres medley relay.
The Association is encouraging the public and supporters to turn out in large numbers to cheer on the swimmers today till the 13th at the National Aquatic Centre in Suva.
