Peter Burese from Sacred Heart College has broken the 23-year-old Senior Boys High Jump record set by Marist Brothers High School’s Antonio Rahiman.
Burese cleared 2.10 metres, breaking the record by one centimetre.
While speaking to fijivillage Sports, Burese says he was aiming to break the record and is happy to have achieved it.
He has dedicated the win to his parents and family for their consistent support and teachers.
Burese is planning to pursue further study at the FNU majoring in engineering.
Meanwhile, Queen Victoria School’s Ratu Isia Vuniamatana won silver with a jump of 2.02 metres, while Levuka Public School’s Willy Roko claimed bronze with a jump of 2 metres.
