23-year-old Mohammed Zaahir scooped the gold medal in the Award of Excellence category as he graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in Mathematics and Physics, from Fiji National University.
Zaahir, who is from Rarawai, Ba, credited his parents for their support.
He stresses his parents used to help out in whichever way was possible and assisted him with his assignments and research work.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Zaahir says that having a good relationship with family and friends, as well as maintaining good mental wellbeing, meant the most to him.
Former Kamil Muslim College student stresses that one of the major challenges he faced was choosing challenging subjects, where there were various difficult units.
He also shares that regardless of how hard a subject was, prioritization and time management helped him overcome his challenges.
Zaahir highlights that his GPA was 4.34 out of 5, adding that he found Physics and Mathematics far more fascinating compared to subjects with more theory.
Looking ahead, Zaahir says he plans to further his studies and begin a Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematics.
Zaahir advises students to choose a career path they were passionate about and to help their colleagues and friends as much as they could.
