A Nadi community initiative helping young people leave street life behind through care, skills training and employment has received support from the relevant ministry.
Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Sashi Kiran handed over catering items to YADRA Enterprise, an organisation set up to support street youths.
Grateful for the support, Director Selita Saula, who has been focused on removing young people from the dangers of street life and guiding them towards stability through care, life skills training and employment pathways, says her work is driven by a strong sense of responsibility to the Vanua and her commitment to keeping Nadi safe, particularly for young people.
Saula says she continues to work closely with the Nadi Town Council and Police to create pathways away from substance abuse and street life.
She says one of YADRA’s key initiatives is a roadside food business, which helps meet basic operating costs while instilling discipline, responsibility and basic business skills among participating youths.
Kiran commended Saula's dedication and leadership, saying grassroots inititatives such as YADRA Enterprise play a vital role in complementing government efforts to protect vulnerable young people and build safer communities.
