CFL's General Manager Charles Taylor gives out cake to those present at the World Radio Day celebration at 231 Waimanu Road, Suva

Radio remains a constant companion in both celebration and crisis, a trusted voice that informs, entertains and connects communities across Fiji.

This was the message from Charles Taylor, General Manager of Communications Fiji Limited (CFL), as the company marked World Radio Day with celebrations at 231 Waimanu Road in Suva.

Addressing staff, listeners and supporters gathered for the occasion, Taylor says the industry is privileged to serve its audience and described listeners as the heart of everything radio does.

Taylor says there is nobody more important to us than our listeners, those who tune in on air, follow us online and engage with us during our activities outside the studio.

He also thanked members of the public for their continued support, saying the station’s success rests entirely on its audience.

Taylor also highlighted radio’s enduring role in society, noting that whether in times of joy or in moments of crisis, radio remains a steady and reliable presence, keeping people company, informed, entertained and educated.

He confirmed that World Radio Day celebrations, first marked by the company last year, will now become an annual event.

The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and refreshments, as staff and listeners came together to celebrate the unique bond between radio and its audience.

CFL's in-house band, Back To Front, also entertained the crowd at the memorable event.
