The United States military will begin President Donald Trump's blockade of maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports today, according to U.S. Central Command.
While U.S. forces will block ships entering and leaving Iranian ports, CENTCOM says they will not stop vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports.
CENTCOM says the blockade is expected to begin at 10am.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom has confirmed that they will not be involved in US blockage of the Strait of Hormuz.
A UK government spokesperson told CBS News, that they will continue to support freedom of navigation and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, which is urgently needed to support the global economy and the cost of living back home.
The Spokeperson says that the Strait of Hormuz must not be subject to tolling and they are urgently working with France and other partners to put together a wide coalition to protect freedom of navigation.
