Tropical Disturbance 11F poses no direct impact on Fiji, heavy rain warning and alert remain
The centre of Tropical Disturbance 11F is currently slow-moving and expected to track south and then southeast, remaining well to the west of the Fiji group.

The Nadi Weather Office says there will be no direct impacts from this system over Fiji.

However, the trough of low pressure associated with this system will affect the group.

This means heavy rain will continue for the next few days.

The forecasters say we can expect strong winds to develop over the land areas of Yasawa, Mamanuca and the Northern Division from tomorrow.

The Weather Office says this is 45 kilometres per hour with gusts up to 55 kilometres per hour, and from Tuesday, expect strong winds to strengthen to 55 kilometres per hour with gusts up to 75 kilometres per hour over the land areas of Yasawa, Mamanuca, Vanua Levu, the western half of Viti Levu from Rakiraki to Sigatoka, Coral Coast and Kadavu as well.

They say while the winds will pick up from tomorrow, the system is expected to pass between Fiji and Vanuatu on Tuesday into early Wednesday.

The Weather Office says whether it becomes a tropical cyclone or not, we will still have this rain and strong winds affecting us.

They add from tomorrow into Tuesday, the rain will become widespread over all of Fiji.
