Strait of Hormuz fully closed as tensions escalate
The strategically vital Strait of Hormuz has been declared fully closed by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, raising serious concerns over global shipping and regional security.

In a statement, Iranian naval forces warned that all vessel movement through the waterway has been halted until the United States lifts its blockade on Iranian ports and ships.

The Guard says any vessel attempting to pass without authorization would be targeted.

The latest move marks a sharp escalation after Iran had earlier allowed limited transit through a designated corridor under strict coordination and payment of tolls. That arrangement has now been withdrawn, effectively shutting one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes.

Reports indicate at least two vessels were attacked yesterday in and around the strait, including incidents involving Iranian gunboats.

The developments have heightened fears of disruption to global oil supplies, as a significant portion of the world’s oil exports pass through the narrow passage.

The closure comes as ceasefire talks between Washington and Tehran enter a critical phase, with just days remaining before the current truce is set to expire.
