Semo bypass expected to be completed within the next few days - Ro Filipe

Semo bypass expected to be completed within the next few days - Ro Filipe

The bypass near Semo Village along Queen's Highway is expected to be constructed within the next few days, although the government has not provided a specific timeline for when the work will be completed.

This has been shared by the Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services, Ro Filipe Tuisawau while visiting the site.

Ro Filipe says safety and well-being of families, commuters, and businesses remain the Government’s top priority as urgent work continues on the temporary bypass in Semo.

He says restoring safe and reliable access for the community is at the heart of the government’s response following the recent disruption to the main route.

Ro Filpe says every stage of construction is being handled with care to protect lives, maintain high standards, and reconnect the area as quickly and responsibly as possible.

He inspected the emergency bypass works and praised the engineers, contractors, and workers who have been putting in long hours despite difficult weather conditions.

He also acknowledged the strong support and cooperation shown by the village of Semo throughout the process.

Ro Filipe says their teams are doing their very best to complete the bypass within the next few days.

Although progress is steady and completion is expected in the coming days, Tuisawau is urging all motorists and commuters to take extra care when using the temporary access road and to follow all traffic advisories.

He says recent delays were mainly caused by adverse weather conditions affecting ground stability, but additional resources have now been deployed to keep the project on schedule.
