After 185 years, Ro Veidovi Logavatu's remains have now been laid to rest at his village sacred burial ground known as Muaiqele.
His remains were repatriated from the US, accompanied by the elders of Burebasaga Village to the Burenivudi where it was handed over to the Marama Bale Na Roko Tui Dreketi Ro Teimumu Kepa.
Family and friends gathered in numbers to be part of this historic occassion.
Despite the weather, the young men from yavusa Burenivalu stood watch over the sacred burial ground as they are the only ones given the role to appoint and bury chiefs.
Speaking on behalf of Ro Teimumu, Chairman of the Organising Committee, Ro Jone Kalouniwai acknowledged the people that turned up to witness this historic occasion.
He says Ro Veidovi was born in 1802 and his father was Roko Tabaiwalu.
Kalouniwai says during the leadership of Roko Tabaiwalu, Rewa was one of the strongest provinces in Fiji.
He adds that Roko Tabaiwalu had seven children.
Kalouniwai also highlighted that Ro Veidovi had 55 wives and many children.
He also highlighted that what Ro Veidovi did in the 1840s was the platform that made Fiji being ceded to Great Britain in 1884.
