The proposed Batiri agrivoltaics solar farm in Vanua Levu was highlighted as the Minister for Public Enterprises Charan Jeath Singh met with Energy Fiji Limited to discuss renewable energy projects led by Public Enterprises.

The Minister for Public Enterprises, Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts, Charan Jeath Singh, has met with the Chief Executive Officer and senior management of Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) to discuss renewable energy projects being pursued by Public Enterprises.

The Ministry of Public Enterprises, Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts says the meeting focused on how public enterprises can play a leading role in advancing clean energy initiatives, improving operational efficiency, and contributing to Fiji’s sustainable development goals.

The Ministry says one of the public enterprises progressing a renewable energy project is Food Processors (Fiji) Pte Limited (FPFL), which is planning a 10-megawatt agrivoltaics solar project at its Batiri farm in Vanua Levu.

It adds that during the meeting, FPFL Chief Executive Officer Raneel Mudaliar briefed the Minister and EFL on the proposed green energy initiative adding the project aims to integrate solar energy generation with agricultural operations, supporting sustainable energy production while strengthening agricultural productivity and resilience.

Minister for Public Enterprises Charan Jeath Singh says EFL outlined key technical and regulatory requirements that must be met for the successful implementation of the project.

He adds that FPFL has reaffirmed its commitment to completing all necessary processes to ensure the Batiri solar farm proceeds in line with national energy standards.

Minister Singh further highlights the broader significance of renewable energy projects led by Public Enterprises, while reaffirming the Government’s support for Public Enterprises that invest responsibly in renewable energy and community-led developments, in close collaboration with key stakeholders such as Energy Fiji Limited.
