Pryde granted leave to apply for judicial review regarding suspended pay

Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde has been granted leave to apply for a judicial review regarding issues relating to his pay.

Pryde is challenging the suspension of his salary and benefits, which was endorsed by the President on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission in July this year.

He says the JSC failed to give him a hearing, that the suspension was inconsistent with the presumption of innocence, and that the commission did not properly assess complaints against him as required under the Constitution.

High Court Judge Justice Savenaca Banuve has given the JSC and the Office of the President until the 26th of January to file submissions.

The matter has been adjourned to the 26th of February next year.
