The Premier League and English Football League will once again pause matches briefly during Ramadan to allow Muslim players to break their fast.

Ramadan begins this week and lasts for a month, during which Muslims do not eat or drink from dawn until sunset.

Captains and match officials will agree on a suitable moment to stop play, usually during a goal-kick, free-kick or throw-in.

The initiative was first introduced in 2021 during a match between Leicester City and Crystal Palace.

Several Premier League players, including Mohamed Salah, observe Ramadan each year, with clubs also adjusting schedules to support them during the holy month.
