Police are urging members of the public not to throw water at moving vehicles as it is a serious safety concern.
This comes after children were seen throwing water at moving buses in a viral video.
Meanwhile, Land Transport Authority CEO Irimaia Rokosawa has also issued a strong warning against the dangerous practice of throwing water at moving vehicles during New Year celebrations, stating that such actions can lead to serious and sometimes fatal crashes.
He says throwing water at moving vehicles can distract drivers, obstruct their vision and cause them to lose control.
He says road safety is everyone’s responsibility, and each decision we make can either protect lives or place them at risk.
The CEO has also appealed to parents and guardians to closely supervise children during New Year celebrations and to guide them on safe behaviour near roads and traffic.
He says children often look to adults for guidance, and it is vital that parents and guardians set the right example.
Rokosawa adds roads are not places for play, and children must be reminded to keep a safe distance from moving vehicles.
