Police investigate alleged hot water attack on 15-Year-Old in Lautoka

A 15-year-old boy is admitted at the Intensive Care Unit at the Lautoka Hospital after he was allegedly attacked by two people who poured hot water on him on Monday.

The teenager sustained second-degree burns.

Police have confirmed a complaint has been lodged by his family, and investigations are ongoing.

Following the alleged attack, Swami Vivekananda College (SVC) Ex-Scholars Association has condemned the the act, describing the incident as heartbreaking and deeply disturbing.

Association Chairman Vineel Nand says the act is cruel and inhumane, and that no child should ever have to experience such violence.

Nand says the association’s thoughts and prayers are with the teenager and his family as he fights to recover from his injuries.

He also stresses that incidents like this serve as a painful reminder that communities must do more to protect their young people.

Nand says children represent the future of families, communities and the nation, and violence against them affects the entire community.

He is urging the Fiji Police Force to treat the matter with urgency and ensure those responsible are brought before the law without delay.

He is also calling on parents, community leaders, authorities and residents to work together to stand against violence and the influence of drugs, stressing that children deserve to grow up in safe and supportive environments.
