PM calls for unity, reconciliation and hope in Easter Message

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has called on Fijians to embrace unity, reconciliation and hope in his Easter message, highlighting the 'boundless inclusivity' of Jesus Christ and the enduring message of compassion and renewal.

Rabuka says he was reminded of the powerful message of Christ’s sacrifice and compassion.

Referencing the Gospel of Luke, Rabuka says Easter carries a message of reconciliation, unity and renewal.

He says Fiji is strongest when people stand together as one, guided by respect, compassion and understanding.

Rabuka stressed that reconciliation must be lived daily, not only spoken about, saying Fijians must choose forgiveness, healing and progress together.

He also called on parents and guardians to play a key role in shaping the nation’s future by instilling values of unity, service and community in children.

The Prime Minister says this Easter is particularly significant as the Fiji Truth and Reconciliation Commission continues its work, offering a pathway to confront the past honestly and move forward with courage.

He says he has personally walked that path and encouraged all Fijians to do the same, urging the nation to choose understanding over division and love over resentment.

Rabuka further says that Fijians must renew their commitment to one another this Easter, choosing unity over division, hope over despair and love over fear, to build a peaceful and promising future for the nation.

The Prime Minister also conveyed condolences to the family and vanua following the passing of former President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, and paid tribute to all families who have recently lost loved ones.
