No action has been taken by President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu two weeks after the Judicial Services Commission sent their recommendations to him for Acting FICAC Commissioner, Lavi Rokoika to leave her office as she was not legally appointed to the position.
We have asked the President whether he has made the decision based on the recommendations.
He has not made any comments.
We have also asked all the JSC members led by Chairman, Chief Justice Salesi Temo on whether they can confirm the status of the Acting FICAC Commissioner, Lavi Rokoika, has the President accepted the recommendation of the JSC, what are the security measures in place to ensure Rokoika is removed from office without tampering with any files, is the JSC concerned about the delay, and are there issues proposed by the President including a severance payout for Rokoika, on the table for negotiations after the JSC gave it's recommendations.
We have also asked what is the JSC's stand as Rokoika was not recommended by the JSC.
The JSC did not have their scheduled meeting in Suva last week after they could not reach a quorum.
This has raised more worrying signs on this critical national issue as the decisions continue to be delayed, and it affects FICAC as an institution.
Chief Registrar and JSC Secretary, Tomasi Bainivalu had said they will have a meeting at the end of the month.
No reason was given on why they could not reach a quorum.
Stay with us for developments.
