Minister for Disaster Management Mosese Bulitavu says the National Disaster Management Office is compiling a report on the impact of Tropical Cyclone Urmil, and based on the report, they will determine what intervention is needed.

Bulitavu highlighted this when fijivillage News questioned him on what the government has done so far for the people recently affected by the floods in the western division.

Bulitavu says after assessments, they will also decide on the rations that should be delivered and the areas affected.

He adds that at the moment they are trying to restore services to normal as people have left the evacuation centres.

The Minister also revealed that they have provided non-food items such as tents, solar lights, blankets and food rations that should at least provide for those families for two weeks before they are back on their feet.

When asked about their plans for Rakiraki River, Tavua River and Ba River, Bulitavu says there are plans in place to dredge these rivers so it reduces the risk of flooding.
