Nadroga rugby's story goes global through new documentary

Nadroga rugby's story goes global through new documentary

The Nadroga Rugby Union has partnered with NewFossil Production Limited to document the Nadroga rugby team as they prepare to compete in the 2026 Skipper Cup Competition.

Speaking to fijivillage Sports, Nadroga representative Salamisa Batimala says the partnership will give their players greater exposure through rugby.

Batimala says the team is largely made up of youths from villages who are facing financial hardship, and the introduction of this local film initiative will help highlight their stories on both the local and international stage.

Co-producer Blair Robertson says while an official title has not yet been finalised, the documentary will currently go by the working title Nadroga: House of Rugby.

Robertson says Nadroga Rugby has been a strong presence in local competitions for 75 years, and it is important to document the sacrifices and dedication shown over the decades.

He says this will be a way that the players story of courage, resilience, community and where they come from will be documented.

He adds the series will consist of 12 episodes, each running for 40 minutes.
