Ministry of Health clarifies water measures at Navua Hospital
Navua Hospital

Amid ongoing water issues at Navua Hospital where staff have been seen filling bottles and water bins for patients, the Ministry of Health has clarified that hospital staff routinely fill emergency water bins as a precaution.

The Ministry says it has taken long-term steps to build resilience, including the procurement of a 40,000-litre rainwater harvesting system as a dedicated backup.

They also state that proactive and sustained measures are in place to ensure uninterrupted services, with an ageing water pump switch already replaced and upgraded, plans are underway to relocate the switch above ground during the next rewiring phase.

The Ministry adds that during rare water cuts, bottled drinking water is immediately provided to all inpatients and staff.
