Mataqali Namara begins earning income through Dakuinaroba Bamboo Park

Mataqali Namara begins earning income through Dakuinaroba Bamboo Park
Dakuinaroba Bamboo Park
The mataqali Namara of Vunibau Village in Namosi has begun earning a sustainable income following the opening of the Dakuinaroba Bamboo Park earlier this month.

Members of the mataqali are earning a living by working at the park, which has already started attracting students and members of the public.

Representative from the mataqali, Remesio Rokomata says visitors have begun exploring the tourism site, while the landowning unit continues to learn how to improve their services and introduce more activities for guests.

Rokomata says activities currently offered at the park include swimming, gardening, hiking, and several other recreational experiences.

In terms of fees, Rokomata stated that the Dakuinaroba Day Tour is priced at $80 per adult and $35 per child, while groups of 20 are charged $100 per person, lunch included.

For the Dakuinaroba picnic package, adults are charged $45 per person, children $20, and groups of 20 pay $65 per person, lunch included.

He adds that overseas visitors will be charged in Australian dollars.

Remesio also highlights that one of the key benefits of the project is that it brings mataqali members together, encouraging teamwork and collective effort for the betterment of the landowning unit.

He is urging other iTaukei villagers to make use of their available land in similar ways to generate income and improve their livelihoods.
