LTA rolls out new payment plans for customers with outstanding fines

LTA rolls out new payment plans for customers with outstanding fines
The Land Transport Authority has rolled out a new Payment Plan initiative, effective from last Friday, as part of its continued efforts to support customers in settling long-outstanding traffic infringement fines.

LTA Chief Executive Officer Irimaia Rokosawa says the initiative allows eligible motorists to clear overdue fines through a structured and manageable repayment arrangement, providing a practical pathway to compliance while easing financial pressure on customers facing difficulties in settling accumulated penalties.

He encouraged interested members of the public to visit their nearest LTA office or contact the Authority via email at paymentplan@lta.com.fj for more information.

Rokosawa says over the years, the Authority has recorded a significant number of unpaid Traffic Infringement Notices particularly those issued between 2017 and 2022.

He says these outstanding fines have contributed to administrative backlogs and unrecovered penalties, limiting the Authority’s ability to fully enforce compliance.

The CEO says the payment plan policy addresses this challenge by offering eligible customers an opportunity to regularise their accounts without the immediate pressure of full payment.

Rokosawa says with this change, customers, particularly those with long-outstanding fines between 2017 and 2022, will be able to enter into a structured payment plan with the Authority.

He says to qualify for the payment plan, customers will first be required to clear all outstanding fines issued from 1st
January 2023 to date.

The payment plan will strictly apply only to the range of TINs covered under the signed agreement.

Any TIN issued outside of the approved list must be cleared separately, regardless of the date the TIN was issued.
