Multiple people have been killed and dozens injured after Iran fired retaliatory strikes on Gulf Nations following a joint US-Israel operation that killed the regime’s Supreme Leader.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and 40 of his top leadership, were killed, according to President Donald Trump, during a Saturday morning operation.

The Iranian regime quickly returned fire, insisting it had the “right to defend itself”, and hit a number of targets in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), including Abu Dhabi and Dubai, as well as the Middle East nations of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Jordan.

One video shared online showed the moment a drone slammed into the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. It is unknown if there are injuries or casualties.

While debris from an Iranian missile reportedly fell onto a residential neighbourhood in Dubai, triggering a large explosion as people ran for their lives, vision showed.

Iran’s Fars news agency earlier flagged the country was also targeting Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait and Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE.

The US military said it had intercepted multiple projectiles bound for its bases.

Dubai air base, hotels and airport struck

Also in Dubai, a luxury hotel caught fire during a wave of Iranian retaliatory strikes.

The Fairmont The Palm Hotel was engulfed in flames, with verified footage showing thick black smoke billowing into the sky above the prestigious Palm Jumeirah area.

Dubai authorities reported four people suffered injuries in the blaze, which has since been brought under control. Officials declined to provide further details on the incident.

The seven-star Burj Al Arab hotel is also on fire, footage online showed.

Dubai authorities said debris from an intercepted drone caused the “minor” blaze to the outer facade of the famous hotel. No injuries have been reported.
