The Ministry of Health Dermatology team has confirmed an outbreak of hand, foot, and mouth disease among children.
The Ministry of Health revealed to fijivillage News that parents should be alert to symptoms such as blisters or red rashes on the skin, along with fever and a runny nose.
They are urging parents to seek medical attention if their children show any of these signs.
The Ministry emphasised that this is an outbreak situation, similar to COVID-19, and it is important that all cases are properly identified and recorded.
They say parents are also advised to keep children with symptoms at home.
They should avoid playing with others, sharing utensils, or having close contact with other children to prevent the spread of the illness.
Furthermore, the Ministry recommends that any child showing flu-like symptoms be separated from others, as it may be hand, foot, and mouth disease.
