GCC pushes for harsher penalties on drug traffickers
GCC Chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula
The Great Council of Chiefs has called for stronger penalties, ranging from 30 years to life imprisonment, for people bringing illicit drugs into the country from overseas.

GCC Chairman Ratu Viliame Seruvakula says concerns have also been raised by members of the GCC about how lenient some of the country’s laws are, which may be one reason why drug smugglers are brazenly bringing hard drugs into the country.
