As we celebrate World Radio Day, the enduring connection between radio and its listeners remains as strong as ever, bringing comfort, companionship and a sense of community to people across Fiji.

For 62-year-old Niko Tinanidabanasila from Wainimala in Naitasiri, radio has long been part of his daily routine.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Tinanidabanasila says after finishing his shift with Matrix Security Service in Suva early this morning, he went home for breakfast before making his way to Communications Fiji Limited at 231 Waimanu Road to be part of the World Radio Day celebrations.

A regular listener of VITIFM, Tinanidabanasila says the morning programme hosted by Atu, Demesi and Elenoa on VITIFM is something he looks forward to every day.

He says radio continues to play an important role in people’s lives, who rely on it not only for music and entertainment, but also for timely and reliable news.

Tinanidabanasila is encouraging members of the public to visit 231 Waimanu Road and meet the people who they hear on air. Communications Fiji Limited, parent company of Legend FM, FM96, Viti FM, Radio Sargam and Radio Navtarang, is marking World Radio Day with celebrations at its Suva headquarters, highlighting the continuing impact of radio as a trusted source of information, entertainment and connection for communities across the country.

CFL's inhouse band is currently performing, and the celebrations will end at 1pm.
