An electrical fire occurred in one of the rooms of the Maternity Unit's Ante-Natal Care Department at the CWM Hospital.

The fire has been controlled.

Health Minister, Doctor Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu says they are thankful to the staff who just had fire warden training this week, and they were able to control the fire before the National Fire Authority arrived.

He confirms that no one was injured and everyone was safely evacuated to an assembly area outside.

The Health Minister has received the report that the fire is suspected to be caused by an electrical fault from a Christmas tree.

NFA is currently assessing the situation.      

Meanwhile International Women's Association Fiji President, Judy Compain who was on a visit at the hospital, says thankfully there were no patients at the clinic today.
