As drugs continue to be a major concern in the country, the Fiji Police Force will continue its drug operations in villages and outer islands.

According to Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Aporosa Lutunauga, over the past three years, police have confiscated a total of 31.5 tonnes of green and white drugs.

He says the total street value of the confiscated substances is $3.9 billion.

Lutunauga adds that the police will continue their work as mandated under Section 5 of the Police Act, which is to protect life and property.

He further says that nine phases of operations were completed last year.

The Acting Deputy Commissioner emphasised that police are confident they have the situation under control and are responding to every case that comes in.

He also urged the public to be patient, trust the police processes, and said that the authorities will dismantle these syndicates.
