Fiji has fuel supply until at least end of the month if supply stops today
Should fuel supply halt today due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, Fiji has enough supply for at least until the end of the month but should it halt in a month, we have supply until May.

This has been confirmed by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission CEO Senikavika Jiuta who says there is 30 days of reserve stock, excluding shipments that are already en-route.

However, she warns that panic buying or hoarding could drastically reduce the available supply within a much shorter period.

Jiuta has also confirmed that gas supply will not be adversely affected in the foreseeable future, as suppliers source gas from Australia, not directly from the currently affected regions.

However, the CEO says, should geopolitical tensions persist or escalate, markets may increasingly rely on alternative suppliers such as Australia and as such, continued vigilance remains important.

Jiuta says their teams are conducting inspections on the ground and liaising directly with suppliers to monitor market behaviour.

She says this is a holistic monitoring process, but it cannot be done by FCCC alone.

The CEO stresses it requires cooperation from consumers, the media, businesses, and the Government to ensure that market stability is maintained and any potential impact is effectively managed.
