Fiji-Australia Vuvale Union talks focus on transnational crime, healthcare and cybercrime
The Fiji-Australia Vuvale Union Meeting is currently underway at Ra Marama House, where key issues such as transnational crime, healthcare, climate change, cybercrime and illegal fishing are being discussed.

During the opening, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the meeting marks a new chapter and reflects the maturity of the relationship between Fiji and Australia.

Rabuka states that the bedrock of their union is built on love, respect and understanding.

He adds that both countries aim to provide a blueprint of unity and solidarity for other nations.

The Prime Minister also confirms that security talks are now nearing the conclusion stage.

He stresses the importance of upholding and promoting democracy, noting that it is vital for peace and helps preserve the dignity of people.

Meanwhile, Chief Negotiator and Head of the Office of Pacific Australia, Elizabeth Peak says external challenges necessitate bold action.

Peak adds that the Vuvale Union will boost the relationship between the two countries for the next century, as it is grounded in trust and honesty.

A minute of silence was also held for former President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau was passed away last Thursday.
