EqualMed partnership strengthens healthcare services in Fiji

EqualMed partnership strengthens healthcare services in Fiji
PC: Fiji Government

Fijians are set to benefit from safer, more reliable, and accessible healthcare as the Ministry of Health strengthens its services with continued support from EqualMed.

The Ministry of Health has emphasises that this commitment is being reinforced through support from EqualMed, an American non-profit organisation that has partnered with Fiji’s health sector for more than a decade. They state that EqualMed has donated over FJD $5 million worth of medical supplies, directly supporting hospitals and health centres in providing better services to patients. Ministry says in September 2025, the organisation delivered a 40-foot container of medical equipment valued at approximately $1.1 million, which included wheelchairs, walkers, and thermometers for distribution across the country. The Ministry also confirmes that to support the rollout of this assistance, the Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, Penioni Ravunawa, has been accompanying the EqualMed team during site visits to various health facilities. They add that visits conducted yesterday included Navua, Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, as part of continued efforts to ensure the donated equipment reaches frontline facilities—where it can make the greatest impact on improving patient care and health outcomes.
