EFL says 99,000 families protected from electricity tariff increase

EFL says 99,000 families protected from electricity tariff increase
Around 99,000 families will not see any increase in their electricity bill following the announcement of an increase in Energy Fiji Limited tariffs from 1st January, 2026.
While clarifying the matter, EFL says these households typically consume lower amounts of electricity and are fully protected under the tariff structure.
They say customers with a $38.25 bill or less will see no changes, while customers with a $50 bill will see an increase of 35 cents.
Customers with a $100 bill will see an increase of $1.85, a $150 electricity bill will see an increase of $4.41, while customers with a $200 bill will see an increase of $7.41.
EFL says overall the bill impact remains low and progressive, with increases ranging from 0 percent to 4 percent depending on the level of electricity consumption.
For Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), EFL says there will be an increase of approximately 3 cents per unit, and this has been widely understood and accepted during awareness programs.
They say the adjustment reflects the higher energy demand and system usage of businesses, while remaining modest and predictable.
