Digital violence is one of the fastest-growing forms of abuse, with significant emotional and physical impacts.

This was highlighted by Empower Pacific while conducting a Gender-Based Violence awareness session in Tabia Village, Koroalau in Cakaudrove.

The villagers were also informed that such abuse does not only occur online but can often escalate into offline violence, creating long-lasting harm for survivors.

The session was aligned with the global theme, “No Excuse: Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls”, and was facilitated by counsellor Paulina Talebula.

The session placed a special focus on digital violence, highlighting its growing prevalence and harmful effects on women and girls.

Empower Pacific adds that the participants were educated about online harassment, digital abuse, and cyberbullying, and how these risks affect both rural and urban communities.

The session also discussed the cycle of abuse model, helping participants understand how power and control dynamics in relationships contribute to overall harm and wellbeing.
