Dermatology services at Tamavua Twomey strengthened with $53,000 donation

Patients at Tamavua Twomey Hospital will benefit from improved dermatology services following a $53,000 equipment donation from Pacific Dermatology Limited.

Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, Penioni Ravunawa says this generous contribution enhances the quality, accessibility, and safety of dermatological care for patients, particularly the elderly and those with mobility challenges.

Ravunawa says the donation includes modern clinical examination beds and specialised surgical instruments to support biopsy, excision, cryotherapy, and diathermy procedures.

He says these upgrades will improve patient comfort and clinical efficiency at Tamavua Twomey Hospital and expand service capacity in the Western Division.

The Assistant Minister also acknowledged the dedicated voluntary service of Dr Margot Whitfield who has supported the Dermatology Department since 2002, and recognised Dr Vinila Swamy for her ongoing service in the Western Division since 2025.

The Ministry further reaffirmed its strong collaboration with the Pacific Dermatology Training Centre and Fiji National University in building local specialist capacity and ensuring sustainable dermatology services for Fiji and the wider Pacific.
