Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has confirmed he will be meeting with Office of the Director of Public Prosecution soon in relation to the Commission of Inquiry into the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner.
Meanwhile, Tudravu has stressed that he does not need to interfere with the ODPP as his job is to get the investigation done, gather the evidence, and pass everything over to them.
He has highlighted this while responding to questions on investigations into the death of Richard Mock.
Mock’s body was discovered at a vacant lot in Nasau, Nadi, in January last year. Police officers were the last people seen with him before his death.
Tudravu says people are accusing the Police Force of dragging this case just because police officers are involved.
The Commissioner stresses that the investigation has been done and the file is already with the ODPP.
Police had confirmed in May last year that the file is with the ODPP.
He says he cannot force the DPP to fast-track cases, as it is an independent office, similar to his own.
