13 families from Batiniwai, Caubati, are currently taking shelter at the evacuation centre at Saint Agnes Primary School in Nabua as the centre of Tropical Cyclone Vaianu tracks between Fiji and Vanuatu.
Batiteba Lasaqa from Rabi shared that she arrived at the evacuation centre last night with her husband and daughter, with assistance from the Fiji Police Force, who helped transport them safely.
She says they left Caubati, at around 9pm, bringing along most of their belongings.

When fijivillage News visited the evacuation centre, children were heard singing hymns during their afternoon prayer session while dinner was being prepared.

Lasaqa expressed gratitude to the Parish Priest of Saint Agnes Church for providing shelter at the school and supplying food rations to the 13 families as they await government assistance.
