Cabinet lifts ban on harvest and trade of beche-de-mer

Cabinet has approved the lifting of the ban on the harvest and trade of beche-de-mer, with strict conditions in place to ensure sustainability.

Approved species may be harvested from 1st February to 30th May 2026, followed by a two-month window, until 30th July 2026, for processing and export by licensed traders.

The Ministry of Fisheries will oversee all related activities to ensure sustainable practices are maintained.

The decision aims to support livelihoods while safeguarding marine resources for the future.
