The Blues powered home in the second half for a 45–19 victory over Moana Pasifika at North Harbour Stadium last night.
The win was set up by a dominant period before and after the break, which saw the visitors recover from a slow start and race away for a bonus-point victory.
Despite what the scoreline suggests, Moana Pasifika were competitive early on and scored a unique opening try from a set play following a tap, after spending several minutes inside the Blues’ 22.
In the end, it was not enough to deny the Blues the bonus point, as Terrell Peita’s debut try sealed full points and kept Vern Cotter’s side in the hunt for the top spot on the ladder.
The Blues will face the Crusaders on Friday at 7.05pm, while the Reds will take on the Chiefs at 9.35pm.
On Saturday, the Highlanders will play the Waratahs at 4.35pm, the Hurricanes will meet Moana Pasifika at 7.05pm, while the Brumbies will face the Force at 9.35pm.
Meanwhile, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua defeated the Highlanders 24–14 in Ba yesterday.
