If anyone is found with drugs in the Province of Cakaudrove, they must leave the province immediately.
The President and Turaga Bale na Tui Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, delivered this statement during the Bose Vanua of Cakaudrove in the chiefly village of Somosomo in Taveuni.
He also emphasized that the first step in addressing the drug crisis in Fiji is for the chiefs and the community to take action within their districts or tikina.
He expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of marijuana cultivation in the province, which poses a serious threat to families, youth and the overall well-being of communities.
He urged the Vanua to unite for the well-being of its people and to combat social issues such as the spread of HIV/AIDS and drug trafficking.
Ratu Naiqama reaffirmed that the province will continue to uphold its values and traditions, ensuring the well-being of its people is safeguarded.
The Bose Vanua of Cakaudrove concluded with a strong commitment from the Chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs, Ratu Viliame Seruvakula, who stressed on the roles of the chiefs in addressing Fiji’s social issues.
